Covid-19 has changed our world beyond the direct effects of the virus. Since the start of the pandemic, Domestic Violence has increased astronomically. Hiding in the shadows of politics and celebrity commentary are real people stuck in isolation with their abusers. With no privacy, no reprieve, and no witnesses.
Time’s Up, in partnership with the National Domestic Violence Hotline, has created a secret app to help connect and support victims of Domestic Violence.
The key features include private chats to connect survivors with advocates, group forums to provide a safe community, local resources to educate and money transferring for those who need discreet financial assistance.
The app icon can be changed at any time in settings so it can’t be recognized by anyone besides the user. Every time you leave the app it will require you to log back in when you reenter. You can also choose your own name or remain anonymous while using the app.
In order to spread awareness for the app we are using social media.
On Instagram, Time’s Up will put out dark ads that will talk about a secret app for domestic violence and a link.Influencers and celebrities will follow suit by posting a picture of themselves holding a finger over their lips with #secretsurvivor and a link to the app. The only way to find the app is by going to the link.
For those suffering from domestic violence, it is important to have a support system and plan when it comes to finding a way out. Give those struggling options and say TIme’s Up to Domestic Violence.
